Our Dog Food.

For our breeding program we had a few hard choices to make one being the choice of dog food.

I do have to say that after a year of our choice to feed the Royal Canin Lines to breeders and puppies i would not turn back and i am more then happy to recommend Royal Canin to everyone that cares for there dog.
We have done a lot of research on dog food and there factories and have added a chart at the bottom for you to consider.

Starter Mousse.
Dogs between 9 lb and 22 lb (adult weight)
Targeted heath nutrition for:
Mothers from end of gestation and during lactation and Weaning puppies up to 2 months of age.

 Royal Canin’s Mother Baby Dog

Is a unique nutritional solution that meets the needs of the mother and her puppies during the first 5 stages of life: gestation, birth, lactation, weaning and growth up to 2 months.

 Ultra Soft Mousse
Unique mousse texture, perfectly adapted for 1st stage puppies.

Preparing Starter Mousse
Puppies naturally imitate their mother’s eating habits, and seek out the same food she eats.

During Weaning, the baby dog transitions from maternal milk to solid food.
The texture of Starter Mousse, used alone or in combination with dry Starter products, eases this transition as it can be mixed into a very palatable ‘porridge’, while meeting all the nutritional needs of both mother and puppy.
1. Check the portion guides to confirm the quantity of Starter Mousse to be used.
2. Portion the recommended daily feeding (see feeding guide) into several meals throughout the day (different for Mother and puppies see chart)
3. Throw any uneaten food away after one hour.

Ospika Animal Hospital Facts on Nutrition
The truth about Corn, Grain, Raw Diets and By-products.

 CORN.

Corn is a valuable ingredient with many beneficial nutrients.

Myth. it's just a filter.

Fact. Fillers have no nutritional value.
Every ingredient used in our has nutritional value.
Corn is packed full of valuable nutrients that help the skin and coat, such as antioxidants (part of the vibrant yellow color), Vitamins A and B, Selenium and Zinc, Amino Acids Cystene and Methionine and Fatty Acids.

Myth. Its not digestible.

Fact. Whole corn is covered by a protective fibrous layer called the hull. When this layer is broken (finely ground), it allows digestive enzymes to brake down the fat, carbohydrates and protein. Studies have shown that grinding corn allows greater digestibility.

GRAINS.

Grains are full of important nutrients.
Such as..
 Vitamins, Minerals, Proteins,
and Carbohydrates.

 Myth. Too high in carbohydrates.

Fact. A grain free formula does not mean it is a starch free formula or that it is more nutritionally aligned to your dog or cat's precise needs. Many new grain-free alternative ingredients such as sweet potatoes and tapioca still contain starch often in higher levels. n fact, starch is required to create a kibble and gives it its pillow like appearance (think of popcorn.)

 Myth. Cause allergies.

Fact. An allergy and be caused by any ingredient with a protein. Food allergies do occur but less than commonly perceived, amounting to 1% of all dermatological cases. Grains have shown to be no more allergenic than any other ingredient (fruit, vagetable of animal protein).

 RAW or

Home Prepared.

These diets are very challenging and may be harmful for both your pet and anyone who cames in contact with your pet.

 Myth. Easy to balance.

Fact. Making a diet is never easy, unless you have a scientific lab to measure every ingredient's digestibility and nutrient levels. Many studies have shown home made diets are not nutritionally dalanced. in a 2013 study, 200 home perpared rececipes wer analyzed and 95% were found to be definient in at least one essential nutrient. Some recipes actually exceeded the safe upper limit in certain nutrients.

Myth. Safe.

Fact. When dealing with raw and home perpared diets the chances for bacterial contamination  are significant. While your pat may be able to deal with these different pathogens, humans usually cannot. You may take every precaution in your kitchen for safety, but you pet can carry these pathogens and potentially contaminate anyone who comes in contact with your pet or pets feces. Raw diets are considered a community health issue, not supported by hospital, that Canadian Veterinary Medical Association or the Public Health Agency of Canada.

 BY-PRODUCTS.

A by-product is a term used to classify an ingredient; it does not represent the qualty or nutritional value

Myth. Low Quality

Fact. By-products are a secondary product n addition to the principal product. Numerous ingredients can actually be considered a by-product by this standard such as wheat bran, tripe, salami, beef liver, etc. The term by-product is not an indication of the nutritional quality

 Myth. Not safe.

Fact. By-Products are as safe as any other meat ingredient. Any meat by-product, when sourced from a high-quality facility, is selected from clean, fresh parts of a healthy animal. Sometimes by-products are incorrectly associated with diseased animals but this is absolutely not the case with reputable pet food manufacturers. That is why we partner with reliable pet food companies who take precautions with all their raw materials.
